Christian Schatz Selected as Athletic Director of the Year

Bishop Feehan High School is proud to announce that Athletic Director, Christian Schatz, has been selected as the recipient of the Massachusetts Secondary Schools Athletic Directors Association (MSSADA) District 6 Athletic Director of the Year. Schatz was presented his award at the MSSADA Annual Awards Banquet on Thursday, March 30, 2023. This prestigious award is presented annually to recognize athletic administrators from across the state that have excelled in their profession and made significant contributions to athletic administration. Also in attendance for the awards banquet were Football Head Coach Bryan Pinabell, Athletic Administrative Assistant Donna-Marie Paulhaus, President Tim Sullivan, Principal Sean Kane, and Boys Lacrosse Head Coach Tom Sheerin.  


Schatz, among many duties, manages Feehan’s nearly 800 student-athletes, hundreds of coaches, 28 sports teams, and hundreds of games per year. His creation of Captain Leadership Classes has positively influenced the culture of Feehan athletics. Additionally, he was influential in developing Feehan Fanatics, which upholds the mission of the Athletic Department and the School while creating a positive and fun fan experience during athletic events.

“I am honored to be recognized as our district’s Athletic Director of the Year and privileged to lead the Feehan athletics program,” said Schatz. “Our students and staff have inspired me not just by winning championships, but by modeling good sportsmanship, one of our community’s most important values. This is an honor not just for me, but for our entire department including staff, coaches, and our amazing student-athletes.”


Schatz is a graduate of La Salle Academy in Providence, RI. Before becoming the athletic director at Bishop Feehan, Schatz taught Social Studies and was the assistant girls soccer and head boy lacrosse coach. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Psychology from Assumption College and a Master’s Degree from Providence College and a Master’s Degree in Coaching Athletic Administration from Concordia University. He currently serves on the MIAA Sportsmanship Committee and is the President of the Catholic Central League. Schatz lives in North Providence, RI with his wife and two children.
